Project: Brawner Farmstead (2009)
In 2009 I worked on a project on the Brawner Farmstead, a Civil War battle site located on the western edge of Manassas National Battlefield Park in Virginia. This charming little property has a rich and bullet-scarred history that the park service shares via a new interpretation program housed in the central farm house. The farm house itself is not the structure that stood during the Civil War, since the older building was almost entirely destroyed by the fighting that took place here during the Second Battle of Manassas in 1862. The beautiful farm fields and historic landscape that surrounds the farmstead helps you to imagine its dramatic Civil War past first-hand. Make sure to stop by and walk around on your tour of Manassas National Battlefield Park!
